1977

On 20th June 2013, less than a year after his younger brother Kevin passed away, my good friend Terry Brace, who had been in poor health for some time, passed away peacefully.

Terry was one of the very few players, and the only committee man, to have played in the first ever seasons of both the Ryhope YC Juniors and Ryhope YC (Seniors), later to become Ryhope CA and finally Sunderland RCA. Although his playing career was short with the Senior side he then went on to give incredible service to the club, until 1990. A member of the committee in all these years his roles have included Trainer/Physio, Treasurer and finally Chairman. It should also be remembered that, as an electrician, he gave his services free to help in the building of the clubs ‘Meadow Park’ football ground. He was very proud, and rightly so, to have helped in forming the RCA team, back in 1963, as well as playing a huge part in the clubs success and development to Northern League status.

We go back a long way and our long friendship started back in 1960 when we both joined the newly formed youth club. He was a great family man, a friend to many and a gentleman. He will be sadly missed.

As with his younger brother, Kevin, the church was full and there was a lovely service. The congregation included some of our life long friends Frank Masters, John Brickle and Tommy Wilson as well as Billy Anderson, Brian Page, Norman Taylor, Jimmy Clark, Harry Clark from his days with Ryhope CA football Team.
