Played and scored in the YC's first ever game in the Seaham District League in 1963. It was a 3-3 draw with Seaham UDC at the colliery welfare ground, now the home of Seaham Red Star. Unfortunately I can't remember if it was the first or not. I'd like to think it was.
Selected to play and captain the Seaham & District League side for the 1968/1969 and 1969/1970 seasons.
Winning umpteen trophies.
Scoring 85 goals in the season 1972/1973 (the same season Sunderland won the FA Cup).
Playing 400+ games
Scoring around 500 league and cup goals (none were penalties) See 'My Ryhope CA Career' section for the basis of this figure.
Scoring 7 goals in a game twice
Scoring in 11 consecutive games in the 1969/70 season
Scored first of many goals in the cubs first season 1963/1964 and even scored a hatrick in my last season (1978/1979).
Stopping the club from folding in 1970/1971 season by taking on the secretary's job. Although proud of what I did, there are times when I wonder, because it badly affected my game, what direction my career would have gone if the club had folded.
Making an unbelievable number of friends.
